Hawks End Season with Loss to Averett

Danville, Va.-Huntingdon Women's Lacrosse was defeated by Averett 17-7 in the quarterfinals of the USA South Conference tournament.

Averett scored 7 straight goals in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead but Shelby Blair got the Hawks on the board at 1:16 with an assist from Peyton Beachler. In the second quarter, Averett added 4 more goals to take an 11-1 lead. Michaela Haas scored back-to-back free position shot goals at 5:38 and 4:54 to make it 11-3.

In the third quarter, Averett scored 3 more goals to take a 14-3 lead before Dylanie Chappel made it 14-4 at 6:19. Averett added another goal at 4:33 but Chappel's second goal of the game with 47 seconds left in the third quarter made it 15-5 with an assist from Zoe Dezaldivar.

A goal by Averett to start the fourth quarter made it 16-5. Peyton Beachler scored at 11:29, making it 16-6. Reagan Bullock scored the Hawks' 7th goal at 7:00 with an assist from Beachler but the Hawks were not able to make a comeback, with Averett adding another goal to end the fourth quarter.

Morgan Coppini made 9 saves on 26 shots. Reagan Bullock had 1 goal on 3 shots with 5 ground balls, 3 draw controls, and 2 caused turnovers. Dylanie Chappel had 2 goals on 5 shots with 3 draw controls. Michaela Haas had 2 goals on 4 shots. Peyton Beachler had 1 goal and 2 assists on 1 shot. Shelby Blair had 1 goal on 4 shots with 3 draw controls. 

The Hawks end the season 6-10 overall and 4-6 in conference.
