MONTGOMERY,Ala.- In a USA South conference matchup at home, Huntingdon women's lacrosse(2-6 overall, 2-2 USA South) was taken down by the Lions of Piedmont University(6-5 overall, 4-0 USA South) 22-3. The Hawks never found a groove offensively, and the Lions were able to capitalize on miscues with an up-tempo offensive attack to walk away with a victory.
How it happened
Piedmont struck first with a goal at the 13:17 mark that sparked a 10-0 run that lasted for the duration of the first quarter. The Lions scored again to kick off the second quarter and take an 11-0 lead, but Reagan Barrett put in a goal to stop the bleeding at the 8:29 mark off an assist from Kate Hudson to bring the score to 11-1. Two more unanswered goals from the Lions brought the score to 13-1 at the half. Piedmont picked up where they left off in the first half, outscoring the Hawks 6-0 in the third quarter to hold a 19-1 lead entering the final quarter. Kate Hudson and Amara Veng each managed to score in the final quarter, but ultimately Piedmont would take the victory 22-3
