Hawks Season Comes To A Close In First Round Of USA South Tournament At Meredith

RALEIGH,NC.- In the first round of the USA South Women's Lacrosse conference tournament, the Huntingdon Hawks(2-12 overall, 2-8 USA South) were defeated by the Avenging Angels of Meredith(12-6 overall, 9-1 USA South) 27-4. A twelve goal opening quarter for Meredith established their lead that they would hold throughout the contest to take the win.

Highlights

The Avenging Angels opened the game with a 5 unanswered goals to get out to 5-0 lead by the 8:17 mark. A goal from Kate Hudson just ten seconds later momentarily stopped the bleeding, but Meredith still held a 12-1 lead entering the second quarter. In the second quarter Meredith would go on to score five unanswered goals, but Amara Veng put in a goal just before halftime to bring the score to 17-2.

Carrying their offensive rhythm through halftime, Meredith would start the second half with two goals to push the lead to 19-2 by the 12:33 mark. Kate Hudson responded with her second goal of the game at the 10:31 mark, but Meredith closed the period with four consecutive goals to enter the fourth quarter with a 23-3 lead. The Avenging Angels would go on to outscore the Hawks 4-1 in the final quarter of play, with the Hawks lone goal coming from Kate Hudson. In the end, the Hawks could not match Meredith's offensive output, taking the 27-4 loss.

This loss brings a close to the Hawks 2024 women's lacrosse season. Stay tuned for news to come about their 2025 campaign.
