Hawks Earn Historic Victory At Gator “Boots” Duals
MONTGOMERY,Ala.- In their second duals event of the season, Huntingdon men's wrestling came away with two victories, defeating Concordia University and #18 Millikin University, while falling to Elmhurst and #8 Baldwin Wallace.
Junior's David Burgess and Nick Brashear went undefeated in their matches today, with Burgess defeating a nationally ranked opponent from Millikin and Brashear taking down two opponents ranked in the top 6 within the region from Concordia and Baldwin Wallace. Each of these athletes played crucial roles in both of the Hawk victories. When asked about the teams overall performance, Director of Wrestling Matt Oliver said that "Having a win over a top 20 team in the country feels really good. This is the first time in the 10 year history of our program we have accomplished this and it is something we look forward to doing more of! Our program has come a long way in the last 4-5 years and I couldn't be more excited for the future years to come. The job is not over, we still need to get our team to the National Tournament, and have a long year ahead of us, and even harder competition to come.
