Hawks Advance to CCS Semifinal Game

Montgomery, Alabama – Huntingdon Volleyball defeated Piedmont University 3-0 to advance to the Collegiate Conference of the South Semifinal Game.

The Hawks energy was contagious as they hosted the biggest crowd of the year in Roland Arena. Huntingdon began with a 6-1 lead that would soon turn in to a 11-10 lead after the Lions fought back. The crowd would rally behind the Hawks to spark a 14-4 run to end the set 25-14 with an error by Piedmont.

Huntingdon continued to add pressure on the Lions in the second set. The Hawks held the lead the entire way, going up as much as 11 points. Kennedy Chambers would end the set with a firing kill, leaving the final to the second set 25-15.

In the third set the Hawks had their eye on the semifinal game as they continued to dominate the Lions. Piedmont would be forced to call an early timeout to try and regain focus, but the Hawks continued to step on the gas and led by 13 points, 19-6. As the crowd chanted, "One more point" with the set score at 24-15, Jessi Hilyer would Ace her serve to finalize the Hawks fate in the next round of the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament.

Hawks return to action Friday November 4th in Lookout Mountain, Georgia to take on the #2 seeded Maryville Scots; time TBA.
