Hawks Fall to Hanover

MARYVILLE, Ala. – Hawks Volleyball (0-2) fell to Hanover (2-0) in the second day of the Maryville Classic, 3-0.

The Hawks shot up early 5-2 in the first set off two kills, a few errors by Hanover, and a service ace from Hannah Rogers. Hanover quickly caught the Hawks and tied the set at nine before taking their first lead at the twelfth point. Back-to-back kills from Huntingdon's Eva Ellenburg and Izzy Valldeperas pushed the Hawks back on top at 19-18. Some errors from Huntingdon left Hanover in a position to take the lead and end the set at 25-20.

In the second set, Huntingdon battled and captured two leads, never letting Hanover have more than three points over them until three kills for the Panthers and two errors by the Hawks lifted Hanover to a second set win.

The first and second set, Huntingdon combined for 22 kills, but in the third set they only had seven compared to Hanover's 17. The Panthers captured the game and third set with a 25-14 final.

The Hawks take on Spalding and Brevard tomorrow in the final day of the Maryville Classic at 10:00 AM CT and 2:00 PM CT.
