Crawford and Miller earn USA South Athlete of the Week recognition

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Two Huntingdon student-athletes were recognized as USA South Athletes of the Week on Monday.

John Crawford earned Pitcher of the Week honors for baseball and Brandon Miller was named Rookie of the Week for men's lacrosse.

This is Crawford's first recognition of the spring, the third time a Huntingdon pitcher has been recognized this spring and the fourth overall recognition for the baseball team this season. Miller's recognition is his first of the season and the third for the men's lacrosse team this spring.

Crawford was recognized for his performance in a 6-3 win over Hampden-Sydney. The senior earned the start, struck out seven, walked four, scattered six hits and gave up one earned run in six innings.

For the season, Crawford has made eight appearances, is tied for the lead in the USA South with three saves, is second on the team with 19 strikeouts and has a 4.00 ERA in 18 innings.

Miller was chosen for his performance in a 17-8 loss to Carthage. Miller scored three goals on eight shots and had two ground balls in the game. For the season, the freshman is second on the team and tied for sixth in the conference with 19 goals in 10 games. He also has three assists and his 22 points are fourth for the Hawks.
