Alex Cole to Serve as Assistant Track and Cross-Country Coach

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Athletics has announced the hiring of Alex Cole to serve as Assistant Track and Cross-Country Coach.

A 2022 graduate of Huntingdon College with a degree in Sports Management and minor in History, Cole was a member of the track and cross-country teams from 2018-2022.

"I am super excited to join Coach Ed Wright and the staff at Huntingdon College," Cole said. "I've seen these coaches put time and great effort into their teams and sport and cannot wait to put that in for the Cross Country and Track programs. Thank you to Huntingdon College and Eric Levanda for giving me the opportunity to coach these great athletes."

He currently holds the school record for the 7K in cross-country, the 600 meter indoor track, 4x400 and 3000 steeple-chase for outdoor track. Cole was also a 4-year captain of the track and cross-country teams.

"I am so excited about having Alex, Coach Cole, start his coaching career here at his Alma mater," Head Coach Ed Wright said. "Alex and I have talked about this possibility for two years and know that he will be a tremendous asset to me and the program as he was as a student athlete."

"Coaching has been on Alex's mind since he arrived at Huntingdon, and I am looking forward to seeing him grow as a leader and further assist our program as it continues to grow as well," Athletic Director Eric Levanda said.  "He was a staple for our program as a runner, while sticking it out under three different coaches in his four years.  There's no questioning his dedication to the program."

"Alex Cole has been a committed student-athlete at Huntingdon and has worked hard as a member of the track and cross country teams, in his fraternity, and in his jobs both off- and on-campus," President West said. "Coach Cole brings high-spirited energy and a positive attitude in his capacity as assistant coach, which should serve to motivate and encourage team members. I look forward to great growth in these programs during the year to come."
