Hawks Celebrate D3 Week- Recap

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – This week, the Huntingdon Athletics Program celebrated NCAA Division 3 Week. A significant percentage of our students participate in varsity athletics, competing for the love of the game. We are proud to join 446 division 3 schools in celebrating the academic and athletic accomplishments of student-athletes, as well as their leadership, community service and campus involvement.

Monday April 10th

On Monday, the athletic department joined the NCAA in a social media blast at 2:00 PM CT to highlight students and why they chose D3 with the hashtag #WhyD3

Here is what our student-athletes had to say:

  • Shannon McCarty (Cheerleading): "D3 gave me the opportunity to continue cheerleading after high school!"
  • Joslyn Dahlberg (WSoccer): "I picked D3 because it gave me the opportunity to continue playing the sport I love as well as excelling in the classroom."
  • Ava Catherine Banks (WGolf): "I arrived on campus and fell in love with the campus and the team."
  • Cam Reed (MTennis): "D3 is a unique environment, one that prioritizes academics as well as success on the field, and I felt that was a perfect fit for me."
  • Kahari McReynolds (Football): "I wanted to come into a Championship program and immediately contribute to something special as a freshman, instead of being overlooked by a bigger program."
  • Hannah Rogers (Volleyball): "I chose D3 because I was drawn to the smaller class sizes so I could get to know my professors better."
  • Dylanie Chappel (WLax): "I chose D3 so I could focus on my studies while actually enjoying my sport."
  • Emma Spurlin (softball): "I chose D3 because I didn't want to just be a number, I wanted to have a good relationship with my professors, and also continue my athletic career."
