Men’s Wrestling Releases 2023-24 Schedule

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon Hawks Men's Wrestling Program has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Head Coach Matt Oliver says, "We are super excited for our schedule this year, we have five home events planned which include our big recruiting event in the Annual Intra-Squad Scrimmage hosted on October 14th on Preview Day/Homecoming Weekend. Another exciting date for Huntingdon Wrestling is going to be the weekend of January 6th and 7th. We have the #11 team in the nation, Wisconsin Eau, against us in a Tri-Meet and in an Open Tournament. The Hawk Classic Open Tournament is planned to be a huge event on campus, we have confirmed 9 teams attending – including Wisconsin Eau Claire and Wisconsin Steven's Point. We are expecting 160 kids to enter the tournament!"

The Hawks open at home with their annual Intra-Squad match on October 14th and head into their regular season on the road at the Millikin Open on the 11th of November. To close out the month the Hawks will take on Allen and Greensboro to complete their road stint before returning to Montgomery early December.

Two matches are included in the month of December, one at home against Cumberlands on the 2nd and the other at the Gator Boots Duals on the 16th.

January is the busiest month for the Hawks as it includes two home matches, including the nine-team host event, and three road contests. One of those road contests being against Division II, the University of Montevallo.

"This is an exciting event for the fans, especially in the state of Alabama, and the first time in Alabama history Huntingdon College and Montevallo will wrestle in a dual meet and I could not be more excited to show that we are the best college wrestling team in the state of Alabama," says Coach Oliver when referring to the match against Montevallo.

Huntingdon's final home match will be against Southern Virginia on the 10th of February and they will close out their season on the 16th at Emmanual College before preparing for the NCAA Lower Midwest Regional at the beginning of March and the NCAA Division III Championships in mid-March.

Coach Oliver says, "We are excited to showcase our roster this year. We have three guys returning who placed top 8, Nicholas Brashear (5th) – David Burgess (7th) – Jack Haury (7th), at the NCAA Regional Championships. Go Hawks!"
