Women's Soccer Heads to CCS Tournament

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced the seedings and bracket for the 2023 CCS Women's Soccer Championship Tournament, which will be played Tuesday through Saturday (October 24-November 4). The second edition of the tournament will be hosted by the highest seed involved in each individual contest.
 
The tournament opens on Tuesday, October 24 with a play-in game between the No. 8 seed, Agnes Scott (2-9-3; 1-6-1 CCS), and the No. 9 seed Wesleyan (1-16; 0-8 CCS). The winner of that game will face the No. 1 seed, and regular season champions, Maryville (12-2-3; 7-0-1 CCS) in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, Oct. 28.
 
The quarterfinal round will open with a quartet of games on Saturday. The No. 4 seed Piedmont (9-6-4; 5-2-1 CCS) faces No. 5 seed LaGrange (6-6-3; 3-4-1 CCS) in Game 3. No. 2 seed Belhaven (12-3-1; 7-1 CCS) plays No. 7 seed Berea (2-12-3; 1-5-2 CCS) in Game 4, while No. 3 seed Covenant (6-4-5; 5-1-2 CCS) takes on No. 6 seed Huntingdon (5-9-1; 3-5 CCS) in Game 5.
 
The Saturday winners then will move on to play the tournament's top four seeds on Wednesday, Nov. 1 in the semifinals.
 
The winners of both semifinal games will advance to the championship game on Saturday, Nov. 4.

The Hawks take the 6th seed with a 3-5 conference record. They will take on #3 Covenant on Saturday in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. The last contest between the Hawks was on senior day where the Scots controlled the game. Luckily for Huntingdon, Madison Tryon stands strong with seven of their 22 goals on the season and is 7th in the conference for shots on goals. 

The team also features a true freshman goalie, Libby Williams who is second in the conference for saves per game with 7.64.

Huntingdon's young roster also holds Laney Bishop and Anaely Almeida who both hold five goals on the season the sophmore and freshman duo have been dynamic for their team this season.
