Bio

Derrik Boland joined the Huntingdon coaching staff as an assistant baseball coach in the fall of 2017.

Boland comes to Huntingdon with nine years of coaching experience at the college and high school level. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Millsaps College in 2009 and spent the past six seasons as a high school head coach in Alabama and Mississippi.

Before Huntingdon, Boland was the head coach at Shades Mountain Christian School in Birmingham from 2015-2017. In three seasons, he led the Eagles to one area championship and three playoff appearances.

Before Shades Mountain, Boland spent three seasons as the head coach at St. Aloysius High School in Vicksburg, Miss. In 2013, his second season with the Flashes, Boland was named the Vicksburg Post Coach of the Year as he guided St. Aloysius to a 20-11 record and the program’s first district title in more than a decade. The Flashes repeated as district champions in 2014.

A 2008 graduate of Millsaps College with a degree in elementary education, Boland was part of 84 wins as an assistant coach with the Majors from 2009-2011. The 2009 team was ranked No. 1 in Division III, put together a 34-10 record and advanced to the Central Regional.                 

As a player, Boland was a four-year letterman for Millsaps as a catcher and designated hitter. His teams won 130 games, reached four straight conference championship games, won two conference titles and advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament in 2005 and 2006.
