FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon baseball team lost to Methodist 8-7 on Friday in the first game of a three-game USA South Athletic Conference series.
The Hawks (19-14, 8-7 USA South) carried a 7-3 lead into the eighth inning before Methodist (17-14, 8-8 USA South) scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead.
Patrick Kucera and Alec Raley combined for four of the Hawks' eight hits. Kucera was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. Kucera hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to make it a 7-3 game. Raley was 2-for-4 with a run and two stolen bases.
Landon Sessions had two RBIs and a run and Jordan Criswell, Cheston Wesson and Josh Hines each had an RBI and a run.
Zach McGrady (5-4) took the loss in 7 1/3 innings.
Game 2 of the series is set for 1 p.m. Central on Saturday.
