Huntingdon stumbles against Maryville

MARYVILLE, Tenn.  – The Huntingdon baseball team closed out its second conference series of the season with a doubleheader at Maryville on Sunday.

The Hawks fell 17-9 and 11-0.

In Sunday's first game, Huntingdon scored five runs in the first inning before Maryville answered. The Scots tied the game with two runs in the first inning and three runs in the second inning and took an 8-5 lead in the fourth inning. The Scots pulled away with eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

In the final game, Huntingdon gave up one run in the first inning and fell behind 5-0 in the fifth inning. The Scots added six runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

Tri Overby was 6-for-9 with two RBIs and two runs to lead the Hawks in the doubleheader. Overby was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs in the first game of the doubleheader. Danny Coleman Jr. had two hits, two RBIs and a run, Colton Clark and Jake Elrod each had two hits and two runs and Andrew Knight and Nick Swisher each had two hits and two RBIs.

Chris Fisher had two hits and a run, Wes Powell scored one run and Ryan Meadows drove in one run.

Brooks Freeman (2-1) took the loss in four innings. Wallace Henry (1-2) took the loss in 4 1/3 innings in the final game. Overby was 3-for-4 and was the only Hawk with multiple hits in the final game.
