Huntingdon falls in final two games of LaGrange series

LAGRANGE, Ga.  – The Huntingdon baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader to close out a three-game USA South Athletic Conference series at LaGrange on Sunday.

After winning the first game of the series 4-0 on Saturday, the Hawks lost 6-3 and 10-3 on Sunday.

In Sunday's first game, Huntingdon fell behind 4-0 in the first four innings before cutting LaGrange's lead to 4-3 in the sixth inning. The Panthers added two final runs in the eighth inning and held on for the three-run win.

In the final game, Huntingdon tied the game 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning before LaGrange pulled away with one run in the bottom of the fifth inning, five runs in the sixth inning and two runs in the seventh inning.

Chris Fisher and Jake Elrod combined for eight of the Hawks' 18 hits in the two games. Fisher was 5-for-7 with an RBI, one run and a double and Elrod was 3-for-6 with an RBI and a run.

Fisher was 3-for-4 with a run in Sunday's first game. Nick Swisher had an RBI and a run, Wes Powell drove in one run and Elrod scored one run. Wallace Henry (1-3) took the loss in 6 1/3 innings. Henry struck out seven, walked two, gave up nine hits and allowed four runs.

Brooks Freeman (2-2) took the loss in the final game in 4 2/3 innings. Fisher was the only Hawk with multiple hits in the final game, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Justin Raley and Elrod each had one RBI and Colton Clark, Jacob Pitts and Bradley Harris each scored one run.
