Baseball Defeats #19/22 LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. - Huntingdon (23-10 overall, 9-5 CCS) defeated LaGrange College (25-13 overall, 11-5 CCS) in their first game of the series on the road, 6-4.

With Parker Szush on the mound for the Hawks, the scoring would not begin until the sixth inning for the Panthers.

Huntingdon brought in three runs in the top of the fifth after a walk and a single by Daniel Patton, Noah Phillips hit a two-run single for the first two runs of the game (2-0). Hall Billings was up next and a double down the right field line gave N. Phillips plenty of time to score the Hawks third run.

The Panthers solo homerun in the sixth brought the Hawks lead back to two before they headed back to the plate.

Another three-run inning for Huntingdon boosted them back on top of the ranked Panthers. Two singles from Christian Lasecki and Jabez Sampson put two runners on as Daniel Phillips doubled to left field to score one of them (4-1). The next run was sponsored by a LaGrange balk and a single from Colin Whibbs solidified the three-run inning as Huntingdon headed back to the field.

In the bottom of the seventh after one run from the Panthers, relief pitcher, Seth Killam came to the mound as the Panthers looked to cover ground in the run game. Killam ended the inning but not before one more Panther run brought the game within two (6-4).

Killam struck out three batters, on the ranked Panthers team, in the next two innings and allowed three hits as he earned his third save of the season and Szush his fourth win
