Hawks Soar Past Guilford

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon Football (2-1 overall) defeated Guilford College (2-1 overall) in their final non-conference game, 40-14.

The Hawks kicked off to the Quakers to begin the game and forced a fumble to secure the ball for the first drive.

In three plays, the Hawks conquered 29 yards for starting quarterback, Carson Daniel to rush into the endzone for the first touchdown of the game in the opening two minutes. Will Edwards pushed the score to 7-0 with his made PAT.

Huntingdon's defense stood their ground causing two punts on the Quakers first two drives of the game.

Offensively, Edwards notched a 36-yard field goal for a 10-0 Hawk lead before the start of the second quarter.

Guilford's 10-play drive ended with a field goal to try and match Edwards, but the Quakers attempt came up just short.

An 80-yard drive from Huntingdon ended with back-to-back rushes from Kahari McReynolds and Antojuan Woody for a combined 31-yards, finishing with a touchdown by Woody (17-0).

The Hawks defense continued to shut down the Quakers forcing them to punt again late in the 2nd quarter. Huntingdon's next drive surpassed 80-yards yet again and ended with another Woody touchdown with a pass from Daniel for 39-yards.

After halftime, the Hawks received the ball with a 24-0 lead. The first drive of the second half concluded with a Troy Garner rushing touchdown for 4 yards with 10:36 remaining in the third quarter.

Guilford notched their first touchdown in the third after a 33-yard reception and 1-yard rushing touchdown to put themselves on the board (31-7).

In the fourth, each team added one more touchdown to their side before the game ended with a Hawks victory.

Notes:

The Hawks had 469 total yards compared to Guilford's 191.

Hawks defense forced 8 punts from the Quakers.

The Hawks travel to LaGrange, Georgia next Saturday to take on the Panthers at 12:00 PM CT for their first USA South Conference matchup.
