Hill scores 31 but Huntingdon men lose at Ferrum

FERRUM, Va. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team turned in its best scoring performance in three seasons but fell to Ferrum 94-90 on Saturday.

Huntingdon (1-10, 1-2 USA South) battled Ferrum (5-9, 1-3 USA South) evenly and never trailed by more than nine points in the game. But the Panthers had just enough to get by the Hawks.

Huntingdon pulled within a point, 83-82, on a pair of Austin Hill free throws with less than three minutes to play. But Ferrum answered and built a six-point lead, 88-82, in the final minute.

Jerome Davis and Andre Ashley each hit 3-pointers for the Hawks in the final 30 seconds, but Ferrum hit four free throws to maintain its lead. For the game, Ferrum hit 28-of-41 free throws.

Hill scored a game-high 31 points for his second 30-point game of the season. In the past four games, he is averaging 26.3 points per game. Hill also had six rebounds on Saturday.

Behind Hill, Davis had 13 points, Dantavius Washington added 12 points and Ashley finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Huntingdon travels to Averett (6-8, 3-1 USA South) on Sunday for a 2 p.m. game.
