Huntingdon earns first conference sweep of the season

DUE TO CURRENT COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, FANS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT HUNTINGDON BASKETBALL GAMES

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team beat Berea 67-60 on Sunday to earn its first conference sweep of the season.

The Hawks won the first game of the two-game series 78-68 on Saturday.

Much like Saturday's battle, Huntingdon led for most the game before putting the Mountaineers away in the final 10 minutes. After trailing 35-34 at halftime, Huntingdon took the lead on a 3-pointer by Ceaunte Zachery, led the remainder of the game and put Berea away down the stretch.

Leading 49-46 with a little more than 10 minutes to play, the Hawks used a 13-2 run to take control for good. A dunk by Ty Clark with 5:27 to play put the exclamation mark on the run as Huntingdon took a 62-48 lead.

Berea closed the gap in the final minutes but Huntingdon held the lead to close out the game.

Zachery led Huntingdon with 13 points and eight rebounds and Clark had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Caleb Toney finished with 10 points and six rebounds and James Harris added 10 points and four assists. Dylan Bohling finished with seven rebounds.
