Huntingdon comes up short against Piedmont

DUE TO CURRENT COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, FANS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT HUNTINGDON BASKETBALL GAMES

 

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team took Piedmont to the final seconds but came up short 74-71 on Friday night.

The Hawks led for much of the game, building as much as a nine-point lead, 60-51, in the final 10 minutes of the game. But Piedmont answered with a 14-1 run to take the lead. The Lions played from in front for the majority of the final six minutes.  

As both teams battled for position down the stretch, the Hawks had two opportunities in the final seconds.

Trailing 72-70 with two seconds remaining, the Hawks hit 1-of-2 free throws before fouling Piedmont with less than a second to play. The Lions hit both free throws setting up one final chance for Huntingdon. The Hawks got a shot off before the buzzer but it was off the mark.

James Little led Huntingdon with 16 points and five rebounds and James Harris had 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Caleb Toney had a team-high 10 rebounds and Dylan Bohling pulled down seven rebounds.
