Hawks Fall to Berry on the Road

Rome, Georgia – Huntingdon has fallen to the Vikings of Berry in their season opener 86-66.

Hawks struck first in the game with a layup by leading scorer Tate Goolesby (17 points for the night). Berry would soon strike back with a 10-0 run to put them ahead 15-4. The run would be shut down by a drive and layup by freshman Myles Murphy. With each team having 74 possessions the Hawks would shoot the ball 10 more times than the Vikings and dominate in the post with 42 points in the paint. At the half, the Hawks were down 45-30, considering Berry shot 64% from behind the arc.

The Hawks shut down Berry in the second half with only allowing 3 made threes. They would out-rebound the Vikings by two and cause 5 turnovers. Huntingdon only fell by 5 in the second half with a score of 41-36. Huntingdon's bench was monstrous, adding 17 of their final 66 points for the night.

Huntingdon shot 38% from the field, while Berry shot 55%. The Hawks will look for revenge when Berry returns to Montgomery this weekend for a quick rematch in the Hawks Classic.
