Hawks Drop First Game in Roger Taylor Invitational

Rocky Mount, North Carolina – In day one of the Roger Taylor Invitational, hosted by NC Wesleyan, the Hawks fell to Greensboro 87-63.

To start the game, the Hawks and Pride tied the game by matching 3 pointers. Greensboro then went on a 6-0 run to bring the score to 9-3 with 14:30 remaining in the half. At the 9:32 mark the Hawks brought the game within 4 points with a layup from Max Gardner that was answered by a three pointer from the Pride. Greensboro began to pull away while shooting 6/9 from the three at 66%, 5 of those threes being made in the remaining 9 minutes of the half. The score heading into halftime was 45-24, Greensboro. In the second half the Hawks were unable to bring the score closer than 15 points. With 27 turnovers in the game for the Hawks, Greensboro was able to convert 27 points off those turnovers to take the win.

Huntingdon was led by 8 points from Max Gardner. The Hawks shot 2-8 from three and 10-25 from the field.

Greensboro went 6-9 from three and 17-28 from the field while shooting 8 more free throws than the Hawks.

Key Second Half Stats:

Huntingdon was led by 9 points from Myles Murphy. The Hawks shot 3-8 from three and 13-30 from the field.

Greensboro went 2-8 from three and 16-27 from the field.
