Hawks Fall to LaGrange

Montgomery, Alabama – The Hawks, now 1-14 overall and 0-3 in the CCS fell to the Panthers (11-5, 3-0) in their conference matchup 84-73.

The Panthers claimed the first six minutes of the game with a 16-4 run. Huntingdon struggled to put points on the board as LaGrange continued to stretch the lead. The Panthers gained their largest lead of the game with 7:31 left to go in the half (30-9). A layup by Chase Dumas ignited the Hawks scoring as they made a few layups and got to the free throw line. With 0:25 left to go in the half, Jeremy Autin nailed a three to bring the Hawks back within ten-points of the Panthers, but a Huntingdon foul led to two made free throws that gave the Panthers a 38-26 lead at halftime.

Key First Half Stats:

Freshman Jeremy Autin led the Hawks with 7 points.

The Hawks shot 33% compared to the Panthers 50% from the field.

In the second half the Hawks continued to try and claw their way back within single digits, and a three pointer by Nate Johns did just that at the 18-minute mark (40-33). The Panthers answered with a basket of their own to go back up by nine. Freshman, Myles Murphy stepped up to help the Hawk's scoring by adding 19 points in the half and grabbing five rebounds. Murphy and John's attempt fell just short as the Hawks fight did not allow them to come within nine-points of the Panthers.
