Hawks Drop to Covenant

Lookout Mountain, Georgia – The Hawks, now 1-17 overall and 0-6 in the CCS fell to the Scots (5-12, 1-3) in their conference matchup 77-58.

An early 7-0 run in the first three minutes of the game gave Covenant the lead that they maintained. Back to Back three's by Tate Goolesby gave the Hawks their first points of the night (9-6). A few traded layups kept the score within three until the Scots hit a three that was followed by a made jump shot from DaQuan Hawkins. Hawks now down by four let the Scots go on a 9-0 run at the halfway point of the first half (25-12). Free-throws from leading scorer, Myles Murphy ended the run for the Scots and gave the Hawks some momentum as they brought the game within nine. With three minutes left in the first half, Hawkin's basket lowered the Scots lead to only seven (33-26). The Scot's next made jumper was answered by a Huntingdon three and layup to close out the quarter with a run that left them down by four (35-31). To start the second half the Scots went on a 13-5 run in the first eight minutes that would leave Huntingdon unable to bring the game back within ten points.

The Scots shot 53.6 % in the second half and made 7 more field goals than the Hawks.

The Scots made nine threes for the game, 6 in the second half and the Hawks made eight.

Covenant converted 25 points off the Hawks 15 turnovers.

Freshman Myles Murphy recorded his first career double double.
