Hawks Drop to Maryville

Montgomery, Alabama – The Hawks, now 1-21 overall and 0-10 in the CCS fell to the Scots (13-8, 7-2) with a final score of 78-66.

A three-minute 10-0 run from the Scots dictated the game from the tip. With some made free-throws the Hawks were finally able to get on the board at the sixteen minute mark. Again, the Scots went on a scoring spree to push the lead to 17 with a score of 22-5. Consecutive buckets from freshman, Jeremy Autin sparked some scoring for the Hawks as they brought the game within eight points at the six-minute mark (24-16). Chase Dumas began a 7-0 run for Huntingdon after a made three-point basket that was followed by an Autin and-one (28-24). In the last three minutes of the first half a 6-3 run was led by Maryville to take the seven-point lead at halftime (34-27).

The second half began with no points for the first two and half minutes until broken by a Max Gardner layup (34-29). Tate Goolesby chimed in with a 5-0 run of his own to bring the game within two after the Scots made a pair of free-throws (36-34). Maryville's first field goal of the second half came with a layup at the fourteen-minute mark that led to a 9-2 run for the Scots to create distance (45-36). From that moment on no Huntingdon basket went unanswered by the Scots and the Hawks were unable to bring the game closer than eight points.
