Huntingdon B-Team shoots 286 in Rd. 2 of Rhodes Fall Classic

TUNICA, Miss. – The Huntingdon men's golf B-Team turned in the low round on Monday in the final round of the Rhodes College Fall Classic.

The Hawks shot 2-under-par 286 in the final round and 596 for the tournament. The B-Team Hawks finished eighth in an 18-team field that included five nationally ranked teams.

Tournament champion and 16th-ranked University of Texas-Tyler shot even-par 288 in the final round and 578 for the tournament. The Rhodes B-Team was second at 586 and Centre College and Sewanee tied for third at 588.

Seventh-ranked Rhodes was fifth and finished the tournament six strokes in front of the B-Team Hawk at 590. Tenth-ranked Berry and 12th-ranked Emory tied for sixth and finished three strokes ahead of the Huntingdon at 593. Transylvania, the 21st-ranked team in Division III, finished 11th at 606.

"This was a great day for the Huntingdon B-Team as we fired the low round of the day," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "I'm so proud of the boys and how well they played. These young Hawks turned a lot of heads today. Mark Connelly and Alex Rogers were both solid. Mark was 5-under today and Alex was 2-under. It's nice to have this kind of depth on the team."

Connelly shot a 5-under 67 on Monday and finished fifth in the field of 95 golfers with a 2-under 142. Rogers shot a 2-under 70 in the final round and tied for 20th with a 5-over 149.

Behind Connelly and Rogers, sophomore Stephen Shephard shot 152, freshman Drew Mathers shot 155 and junior Chase Feagin shot 157.

Playing as an individual, sophomore Sterling Dixon shot 179.
