Mathers tied for 1st after first two rounds of Alabama State Amateur

OPELIKA, Ala. – Former Huntingdon golfer Drew Mathers is tied for first after the first two rounds of the Alabama State Amateur Championship.

Entering Friday's third round at Saugahatchee Country Club, Mathers is tied for the lead with a 9-under-par 135. The four-round tournament is set to conclude on Saturday.

Mathers shot a 3-under 69 in the first round and a 6-under 66 in Round 2. Mathers shares the lead with Birmingham's Gordon Sargent. Sargent also shot 3-under 69 and 6-under 66 in the first two rounds.
