Second-ranked Hawks tied for 4th entering final round of Tiger Invitational

PINEHURST, N.C. – The second-ranked Huntingdon men's golf team shot 4-over-par 292 on Saturday and is tied for fourth after the first round of the Tiger Invitational.

Fifth-ranked Methodist and No. 6 Hampden-Sydney each shot 1-over 289 and are tied for first entering Sunday's final round. The 14-team tournament features 10 nationally-ranked teams.

Hampden-Sydney's Allen Smith and Methodist's Henry Angier each shot 5-under 67 in the opening round and are tied for first.

All five Huntingdon golfers are within seven strokes of first place. Walker Hinds, Carson Whitton, Peter Meilunas and John Gaal each shot 1-over 73 and are tied for 14th. Owen Burt shot 2-over 74 and is tied for 20th.

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the final round of the Tiger Invitational on Sunday.
