Second-ranked Hawks tie for 2nd in Tiger Invitational

PINEHURST, N.C. – The second-ranked Huntingdon men's golf team finished one stroke out of first and tied for second in the Tiger Invitational on Sunday.

The Hawks shot 1-over-par 289 in the final round and finished with a two-round 5-over 581. Fifth-ranked Methodist won the tournament with a 4-over 580. Seventh-ranked Piedmont and eighth-ranked Guilford tied for second with Huntingdon.

The 14-team tournament included 10 nationally-ranked teams.

Emory's Max Schwarz and Washington and Lee's Pierce Robinson tied for first at 7-under 137.

Huntingdon's Carson Whitton shot 1-under 71 in the final round and tied for 10th at even-par 144. Owen Burt shot an even-par 72 in the final round and tied for 16th with a 2-over 146.

Peter Meilunas and John Gaal also tied for 16th at 2-over 146. Both golfers shot 1-over 73 in the final round. Walker Hinds shot 3-over 75 on Sunday and finished 25th with a 4-over 148.

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the Jekyll Island Invitational beginning on Friday.
