Second-ranked Huntingdon in 5th after Rd. 1 of Jekyll Island

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The second-ranked Huntingdon men's golf team shot 4-over-par 292 on Friday in the first round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.

Entering Saturday's second round, Huntingdon is fifth in the 25-team tournament. The field includes 10 nationally ranked teams.

Eighth-ranked Guilford leads the tournament with a 4-under 284 and second-ranked Emory is second at 3-under 285.

Carnegie Mellon's William Knauth turned in Friday's best round with a 5-under 67.

Huntingdon's Owen Burt and Walker Hinds each shot even-par 72 in the first round and are tied for 15th. Peter Meilunas shot 1-over 73 and is tied for 25th, John Gaal shot 3-over 75 and is tied for 46th and Carson Whitton shot 81.

                                      

                                     

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the second round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.
