No. 2 Huntingdon places 2nd in Jekyll Island Invitational
JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The second-ranked Huntingdon men's golf team finished six strokes out of first and placed second in the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Sunday.
The Hawks shot 10-over-par 298 in the final round to finish the three-round tournament with a 7-over 871. Eighth-ranked Guilford finished with a 1-over 865. The Quakers shot 9-over 297 in the final round. Emory finished in third, nine strokes behind Huntingdon, with a 16-over 880.
The 25-team tournament featured 10 nationally ranked teams.
Guilford's James Mishoe shot 3-under 69 in the final round and earned medalist honors with an 8-under 208.
Two Hawks finished in the top-8. Walker Hinds was seventh with a 1-over 217 and Peter Meilunas tied for eighth with a 2-over 218. Hinds shot 4-over 76 in the final round and Meilunas shot 2-over 74.
Behind Hinds and Meilunas, Owen Burt and John Gaal each tied for 18th with a 6-over 222. Burt shot 2-over 74 on Sunday and Gaal shot 4-over 76. Carson Whitton shot 2-over 74 in the final round and tied for 31st with a 9-over 225.
