Second-ranked Huntingdon in 4th after Rd. 1 of Golfweek Invitational

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The second-ranked Huntingdon men's golf team shot 305 on Friday in the first round of the Golfweek DIII Invitational.

Entering Saturday's second round, Huntingdon is fourth in the 12-team tournament. The field includes nine top-20 teams.

Third-ranked Methodist and 13^th-ranked Carnegie Mellon each shot 11-over-par 299 in the opening round and are tied for first.

Carnegie Mellon's Jason Li turned in Friday's best round with a 3-under 69.

Three Hawks are within seven strokes of first. Owen Burt is five strokes off the lead and tied for fifth with a 2-over-par 74. Walker Hinds and Peter Meilunas are seven strokes out of first and tied for 16^th at 4-over 76.

Carson Whitton shot 79 in the first round and is tied for 29^th and John Gaal shot 82 and is tied for 46^th.

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the second round of the Golfweek DIII Invitational on Saturday.
