Results

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon's Owen Burt and Grant Gronka are both within four strokes of first and three Huntingdon teams are in the top-10 after the first round of the Wynlakes Intercollegiate on Monday.

Burt shot 3-under par 69 in the opening round and is fourth entering Tuesday's final round. Gronka shot 1-under 71 on Monday and is tied for eighth. Guilford's James Mishoe leads the field with a 5-under 67.

Huntingdon fielded three teams in Monday's competition with the second-ranked varsity, a B-Team and a C-Team. The C-Team shot 6-over 294 and is fourth. The varsity shot 8-over 296 and is fifth and the B-Team shot 11-over 299 and is ninth.

The 15-team field includes 10 of the top-21 teams in Division III. The Huntingdon C-Team enters the final round in front of four top-10 teams and seven nationally ranked teams.

Eighth-ranked Piedmont leads the tournament with a 7-under 281, third-ranked Guilford is second with a 6-under 282 and 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon is third with a 1-under 287.  

Split across three teams, all 14 Hawks shot 78 or better on Monday.

For the Huntingdon varsity, behind Burt's 69, Peter Meilunas shot 2-over 74 and is tied for 24th, John Gaal shot 4-over 76 and is tied for 38th and Walker Hinds and Carson Whitton each shot 5-over 77 and are tied for 44th.

Three of the C-Team Hawks are within six strokes of first. In addition to Gronka's 71, Cody Argade is five strokes out of first and tied for 12 with an even-par 72 and Adam Kilpatrick is six strokes off the lead and tied for 19th with a 1-over 73. Dylan Webb shot 6-over 78 for the C-Team and is tied for 51st.

Leading the Huntingdon B-Team, Cam Page is tied for 19th with a 1-over 73 and Ethan Unverzagt is tied for 24th with a 2-over 74. Connor Bruce shot 3-over 75 and is tied for 31st and Ben Harris shot 5-over 77 and is tied for 44th.

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the final round of the Wynlakes Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
