Hawks have record-setting day in win over Dallas

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team set four school records and just missed three other records in a 20-2 win over the University of Dallas on Wednesday.

Behind a program-record 11 goals from LaDarius Williams and a program-record six assists from Brandon Sewell, the fourth-year Hawks set new single-game team records for assists (11) and shots (69) and just missed the single-game records for goals, shots on goal and goals allowed.

The 20 goals were one short of the Hawks' record of 21, set last season against Centenary. Huntingdon's 39 shots on goal against Dallas were one short of the record set last season against Piedmont.

The two goals allowed are tied for the second fewest in Hawks' history. Huntingdon held Alma to one goal in 2013 and Centenary to two goals last season.

Williams' 11 goals on 15 shots broke the record of eight set by Jakob Works last season. Sewell's six assists broke the record of four assists held by Sewell, Works and Karson Hastings. In addition to six assists, Sewell finished with a goal, 10 ground balls and won 5-of-7 faceoffs.

Williams and Sewell teamed up on four goals, including three goals in the first 11 minutes of the game as Huntingdon (2-6) built a 5-2 lead in the first quarter. The Hawks led 10-2 at halftime.

Brandon Scheele and Patrick Rowe each scored two goals and Alex Cook had a goal and an assist. Scheele was also 10-of-13 on faceoffs. Tyler Campbell, Kendrick Ballard and Andrew Gallagher each scored one goal.

Hastings finished with three assists and Colton Edwards had one assist. Glen Troxell finished with two caused turnovers.

Goalie Fabien Gutierrez started the game and played one period, allowing two goals. Goalie Kristian Smith entered the game at the start of the second period and had two saves in 17:39. Fuller Parker finished the game at goalie, recording one save in 27:21.

Huntingdon returns to action at home on Saturday against Berry at 2 p.m.
