Hawks come up short at Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team battled Pfeiffer University on Sunday night but fell 10-8.

Huntingdon led early, scoring the first two goals of the game. But Pfeiffer, which is in its first season reclassifying from Division II to Division III, took the lead in the second quarter and never trailed again.

Although Huntingdon played from behind for the remainder of the game, the Hawks did not trail by more than two goals until the fourth quarter. Huntingdon fell behind 10-6 with 8:33 to play in the game before goals by Adrian Harper and Bryce Coates made it a two-goal game.

Kendrick Ballard led Huntingdon with four goals and Harper finished with two goals and four ground balls. Coates had one goal and four ground balls and Jackson Schrampfer scored one goal. Caleb Bohrer had one assist.

Sam Hitt was 17-for-22 on faceoffs and recorded 10 ground balls. Hitt continues to rank among the Division III leaders for faceoffs won this season with 155. Entering Sunday's games, 150 faceoffs won was the Division III lead.

Huntingdon goalie Matt Murphy recorded nine saves in 19 shots on goal.
