Hawks Fly by Conference Opponent Brevard

Montgomery, Alabama – The Hawks earned their first conference win to bring their overall record to 4-4 and 1-0 in the USA South with their defeat over Brevard 21-5.

The Tornados took their first and only lead of the game scoring at the 10:30 mark (1-0). Caden Bacz answered for the Hawks with back-to-back goals within a minute of each other to give them their lead (2-1). The remaining seven minutes of the first quarter was all Hawks as leading scorer, Gage Kettlewell added two more goals and the team added three more to head to the second up 7-1.

To begin the second quarter, the scoring duo, Bacz and Kettlewell opened with more goals for the Hawks and starting goalie EJ Umphries held off the Tornados until the five-minute mark when Brevard added three more goals for the first half, one coming in the last seconds of the second quarter. Jacob Payne closed out the scoring for Huntingdon in the half, assisted by Kelcey Marston, his fourth assist of the game, which sent the Hawks to halftime up 10-4.

More goals from the Hawks came in the third quarter as Alexander Hero and Tristan Dial got in on the scoring action. Huntingdon outscored the Tornados 5-1 before heading to the fourth, with tremendous efforts from Umphries to hold off Brevard (15-5).

In the final quarter, Kettlewell notched his career and season high goals with back-to-back goals for his sixth and seventh of the game (17-5). Holding Brevard scoreless in the fourth, Marston and Bacz scored their final goals and Hero flew the last two goals past the Brevard goalie to shoot the Hawks up 21-5.
