Hawks fall at Ferrum

FERRUM, Va. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team lost 4-2 to Ferrum on Saturday.

Ferrum (5-12, 3-6 USA South) opened the game with a goal in the third minute of play.

Freshman Conner Howard put Huntingdon (2-12-1, 1-7 USA South) on the board with a goal in the 30th minute.

The Panthers broke the tie less than six minutes later and scored with 55 seconds left in the first-half to pull ahead 3-1 at the break.

Ferrum extended its lead in the 58 minute before Brendon Van Emelen scored in the 79 minute with an assist from Howard.

Ferrum outshot the Hawks 26-14.

Howard finished the game with one goal and one assist and two shots on goal while Van Emelen took two shots and had one goal. Mac Puller took three shots and had two shots on goal.

Killian Delmore and Cam Smith each had one shot on goal.

Senior Eathan Small had five saves and four goals allowed.

Huntingdon will play at Greensboro on Sunday to close out its 2016 season at 10 a.m.
