GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team lost 4-2 at Greensboro on Sunday to close out its 2016 season.

The Hawks finish the season with a 2-13-1 record and a 1-8 USA South Athletic Conference record.

"I'd like to thank our five seniors for all their hard work this season and throughout their career," head coach Matt Cooper said. "Today they showed great leadership and heart in a hard fought game against a very good opponent. They will definitely be missed."

The Pride (11-5, 8-2 USA South) scored the game's first goal off a penalty kick in the eighth minute and built a 2-0 lead at the 19:23 mark.

Greensboro pulled ahead 3-0 in the 73rd minute. Brendon Van Emelen scored off a penalty kick 40 seconds later to put the Hawks on the board.

The Pride scored their fourth goal just under four minutes later to put the game out of reach.

Van Emelen scored his second goal of the game in the 81st minute but the deficit was too much for the Hawks to overcome. With his second goal, Van Emelen set the Hawks NCAA-era record for goals in a season with 12. The previous record was set by Stacy Terry in 2012. Earlier this season, he set the Hawks NCAA-era record for goals in a career with 21.

Eathan Small recorded seven saves and allowed four goals.
