Huntingdon splits with Berry and Mount St. Joseph

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon softball team earned a split on Saturday during its second weekend of the season.

The Hawks beat Berry College 8-0 in five innings and lost to Mount St. Joseph 7-4.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, complete stats from the Berry game were not available Saturday night. Madison Hunt (2-0) was the winning pitcher in the game.

Against Mount St. Joseph, Huntingdon scored four runs in the second inning to take a 4-2 lead. Mount St. Joseph answered with two runs in the third inning and scored one run in each of the final three innings.

Lydia Lewis was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the game. Madison Perryman had an RBI and a run, Michaela Denney and Mollie Singleterry each had one RBI and Annie Nolan, Caitlyn Caffee and Hannah Vines each scored one run.

Holly Sharp (0-2) took the loss in two innings of relief.

Coming Up: Huntingdon hosts three games on Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m. Berry and Mount St. Joseph will play in the first game, followed by Huntingdon and Mount St. Joseph in the second game and Huntingdon and Berry in the final game.
