Huntingdon stumbles against LaGrange in conference opener

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon softball team lost both games of a doubleheader with LaGrange on Monday in the conference openers for both teams.

The Hawks lost 5-1 in the first game before losing 3-0 in the second game.

Huntingdon only trailed 2-1 entering the seventh inning of Game 1 but LaGrange scored three runs in the seventh to close the scoring. In Game 2, with a scoreless tie in the sixth, the Panthers scored three runs to take the lead.

Michaela Denney had an RBI and Emily Nieuwstraten scored one run for the Hawks in Game 1. Denney had two hits in Game 2 and was the only Hawk with multiple hits in either game.

Madison Hunt (5-2) took the loss in Game 1 and Katie Clifton (1-4) took the loss in Game 2.

                                 

Records: Huntingdon (6-8, 0-2 USA South); LaGrange (7-3, 2-0 USA South)

                                                             

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play a doubleheader at William Peace on Saturday. Game 1 is set for noon (Central).
