Hawks split with Louisiana College and Belhaven

DUE TO CURRENT COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, ONLY HUNTINGDON STUDENTS ARE PERMITTED AT OUTDOOR ATHLETIC EVENTS

 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – The Huntingdon softball team split two games on Saturday in the BSC Tournament.

The Hawks beat Louisiana College 8-0 in five innings and lost to Belhaven 13-7.

Huntingdon put together 23 hits in the two games with Anna Vaughn, Mollie Singleterry and Lydia Lewis combining for 12 hits, nine RBIs and seven runs. Vaughn finished the day 4-for-6 with five RBIs and a run, Singleterry was 4-for-6 with three RBIs and a run and Lewis was 4-for-7 with five runs, an RBI and three stolen bases.

Against Louisiana College, Huntingdon scored three runs in the first inning, three runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning. Vaughn was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, a run and two doubles in the game and Singleterry was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, a run and two doubles.

Lewis was 2-for-3 with three runs, Brooke Stefankiewicz had an RBI and a run, Annie Nolan and Caitlyn Caffee each had one RBI and Emma Spurlin and Hannah Vines each scored one run.

Lauren Melton (1-1) earned the win in five innings, striking out one, walking one and allowing two hits. Elise Maddox (0-2) took the loss against Belhaven.

Against the Blazers, Vaughn drove in two runs, Lewis had two hits, two runs and an RBI and Singleterry had two hits and an RBI. Stefankiewicz and Vines each had an RBI and a run and Caffee, Emma Bauer and Sydney Conville each scored one run.

                                                                               

Coming Up: Huntingdon continues play in the BSC Tournament on Sunday. The Hawks play Louisiana College at 11 a.m. and Birmingham-Southern at 1 p.m.
