Huntingdon sweeps Wesleyan in non-conference doubleheader

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon softball team closed the weekend with a sweep of Wesleyan in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday.

Huntingdon won the first game 8-1 and took the second game 6-0.

In Game 1, Brooke Stefankiewicz had two hits, three runs and two stolen bases for Huntingdon. Emma Bauer had two runs and one RBI and Annie Nolan had two hits, one RBI, one run and a double.

Emily Nieuwstraten had an RBI and a double, Mollie Singleterry had one RBI and Sydney Conville and Caitlyn Caffee each scored one run.

Lauren Melton (2-6) earned the win in five innings of relief. Elise Maddox (1-4) earned the win in Game 2, allowing just two hits in a seven-inning shutout.

In Game 2, Dani Brown was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two doubles and Stefankiewicz had two hits and a run. Nieuwstraten scored two runs and had a double and Bauer, Singleterry and Hannah Vines each scored one run.                                                           

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon returns to action in a doubleheader at Covenant on Friday. Game 1 is set for noon (Central).
