Hawks celebrate Senior Day with conference sweep of Agnes Scott

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon softball team swept a conference doubleheader against Agnes Scott on Saturday.

The Hawks won the first game 9-0 in five innings and won the second game 8-3.

Anna Vaughn and Emily Nieuwstraten combined for six of Huntingdon's 10 RBIs in the doubleheader and Brooke Stefankiewicz and Emma Bauer combined for seven of the Hawks' 17 runs.

Vaughn had a three-run home run in Game 2 and Nieuwstraten drove in three runs and scored two runs in the two games. Stefankiewicz was 4-for-7 with four runs and three stolen bases in the doubleheader and Bauer scored three runs.

In Game 1, Huntingdon took an early 3-0 lead and put the game away with six runs in the fourth inning. Stefankiewicz was 2-for-3 with two runs and Bauer and Nieuwstraten each scored two runs. Dani Brown had two RBIs and a triple, Hannah Vines had one RBI and one run and Emma Spurlin and Mollie Singleterry each scored one run.

Lauren Melton (3-7) threw a two-hitter and struck out seven in a complete five-inning game. Holly Sharp (2-1) earned the win in Game 2 in five innings of relief. Sharp struck out five and allowed four hits and one unearned run. Melton struck out three, walked two and allowed one hit and two runs in the first two innings of the game.

Vaughn's three-run home run highlighted the Hawks' offense in Game 2. Stefankiewicz was 2-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases in the second game and Nieuwstraten had two RBIs. Bauer had one RBI and one run and Spurlin, Annie Nolan, Caitlyn Caffee and Vines each scored one run.
