Hawks Defeat Wartburg and Mt. St. Joseph

Montgomery, Alabama – The Hawks increased their record to 11-1 with their wins over Wartburg and Mount Saint Joseph.

Game 1: Huntingdon 13 – Wartburg 12

Pitcher, Crimson Wells got the start for the Hawks and only allowed one hit over the first two innings. At the bottom of the second a Naveah McIntyre single to shortstop brought in the pinch runner, Madison Salzman to score the first run. After giving up a walk and a double, Holly Sharp came to the circle for Huntingdon and the Knights found their first three runs of the night (3-1). Aubree Flanagan relieved Sharp and gave up two more runs in the top of the third as the Hawks found themselves down 6-1 heading to offense. Unphased, the Hawks posted a five run inning of their own after Brooke Stefankiewicz led off with a single and a stolen base for Jordan Holman to send her home on a single to center field. Four more singles from Riley Rudick, Dani Holt, Emma Spurlin, and Natalie Ritchey helped Huntingdon tie the game at 6.

The Knights were able to score one more run to regain the lead in the top of the fourth. However, the Hawks huge fourth inning created separation. Wartburg tried three different pitchers in the inning to try and shut down the Hawks but seven runs later, Huntingdon sat with a 13-7 lead going through their whole lineup.

The sixth inning claimed big for the Knights after one run was followed by a three run double and then a score off an error to bring the game within one (13-12). Brooke Cooper stepped in to pitch for the seventh inning and got the first three batters out to secure the win for the Hawks.
