Hawks Dominate in the Final Day of the Grand Slam Triangle Classic

Raleigh, North Carolina- Huntingdon competed in the second day of the Gram Slam Triangle Tournament and posted wins over Rhode Island College and Pfeiffer to close out the day 2-0 and increase their record to 13-3.

Game 1: Huntingdon 4 – Rhode Island 1

In the top of the first inning, the Hawks scored first when Jordan Holman singled, and Bailey Murphy had an RBI double to send in Holman from first base (1-0). Holly Sharp got the start for the Hawks in the circle throwing three complete innings. In the second inning, Elli Lorance was able to draw a walk and Miranda Treadway laid a sac bunt down to move Lorance to second. An error by the Rhode Island defense led to the Hawks second run of the game (2-0). In the bottom of the fourth inning, Rhode Island College got their bats going with a triple and a rbi single closing the Hawks lead (2-1). Aubree Flanagan then entered the game for the Hawks to shut the momentum down for the Anchormen. In the top of the sixth, the Hawks would answer when Natalie Ritchey got on by an error and Kamryn Miller singled to the infield. Bailey Murphy then hit an rbi single to right field and Maddie Grace Hubbard followed with a rbi single to left (4-1).

Game 2: Huntingdon 6 – Pfeiffer 5

In the top of the first inning, Pfeiffer scored off of a three run homerun. Brooke Cooper was then entered into the game to stop the Falcons from scoring. The Pfeiffer pitching staff kept the Hawks scoreless for the majority of the game. In the top of the fifth inning, the Hawks defense showed up to make two big plays by Jordan Holman and Natalie Ritchey to keep the Falcons off the bases (3-0). In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Hawks were able to condense the lead. Jordan Holman hit a double and it was followed by a single from Riley Ruddick. Miranda Treadway and Emma Spurlin hit two back to back rbi singles to left field (3-2). Pfeiffer in the top of the seventh inning, tried to push their lead when they hit a single and drew a walk that led to an rbi double (4-2). Katelyn Holcombe then entered the game giving up one hit that Pfeiffer was able to score on (5-2). The Hawks quickly responded in the bottom of the seventh when Maddie Grace Hubbard lead the inning off with a double. Bailey Murphy then drew a walk and Jordan Holman hit an rbi single to right field (5-3). Riley Ruddick drew a walk to load the bases when Miranda Treadway and Emma Spurlin hit back-to-back rbi fielders' choices to tie the game (5-5). Natalie Ritchey ended the game with a triple down the left field line to boost the Hawks past the Falcons (6-5).
