Hawks Softball Splits with CCS Opponent Maryville

Maryville, Tennessee - Huntingdon (17-5 overall, 1-1 CCS) split with Maryville College (11-10 overall, 3-1 CCS) in their first Collegiate Conference of the South matchup.

Game 1: Huntingdon 2 – Maryville 0

Starting in the circle for the Hawks, Crimson Wells made her mark as she held the Scots across three innings, allowing one hit. During her stint in the circle, Kamryn Miller and Natalie Ritchey singled as Ellie Lorance stepped to the plate to pinch hit. Lorance scored Miller on a sacrifice bunt to give the Hawks the lead at 1-0.

Brooke Cooper took over on the mound as she mimicked Well's performance with no runs on one hit for the remainder of the game, notching her fourth win this season. The final run for the Hawks came from a Scots wild pitch to land Riley Rudick across the plate for Huntingdon's first conference win.

Game 2: Huntingdon 3 – Maryville 7

Starting pitcher, Katelyn Holcombe held off the Scots for the first two innings as the Hawks took the plate in the third. With Natalie Ritchey and Kamryn Miller on base, Jordan Holman smacked a three run homerun over center field for an early Hawks lead (3-0). The Scots answered with a one run single inthe bottom of the third to cut the Hawks lead to two (3-1).

The fourth inning was claimed by Maryville after two runs, one being from a homerun, to tie the game at three. With Aubree Flanagan now in the circle for the Hawks, she would hold the Scots silent in the fifth inning but Huntingdon still struggled to cross the plate. In the bottom of the sixth inning, a three run homerun by the Scots deterred the Hawks as they took their first lead of the day at 6-3 and followed with a single to score their seventh run.

The Hawks were unable to make a move in the top of the seventh inning as they ended the day splitting with the Scots of Maryville.
