#9 Softball Closes Regular Season With Senior Day Sweep Of Wesleyan

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- To close out their regular season,  #9 Huntingdon softball (32-4 overall, 14-1 CCS) swept the Wolves of Wesleyan College (6-26 overall, 2-14 CCS), winning the first game 20-2 and followed that up with an 8-0 victory.

 

Before the games began, the program recognized their seven seniors for their dedication and success both on and off the field. The athletes recognized were:

Dani Holt

Brooke Cooper

Jordan Holman

Game one highlights

In the circle

  • Allie Roberts earned her 16th win on the season, pitching a complete game for Huntingdon. She allowed two runs on two hits and pitched seven strikeouts en route to the win

 

Game two highlights

  • To begin game two, neither team was able to find any offensive rhythm in the first inning, with the first run coming in the second inning off a double from Madison Hill that allowed Dani Holt to score and put Huntingdon ahead

  • Brooke Stefankiewicz followed Hill with a single that brought in Riley Rudick to bring the score to 2-0

  • Kylie Stephens closed the inning with a single that allowed Madison Hill to put Huntingdon ahead 3-0

  • Stephens brought in the Hawks fourth run to kick off the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly bringing home Kamryn Miller

  • The Hawks lead grew to 5-0 with a Jordan Holman single allowing Brooke Stefankiewicz to score

  • Huntingdon left the fourth inning with a 6-0 lead following a single from Maddie Grace Hubbard that brought in Jordan Holman

  • To end the game in five innings, Kamryn Miller singled, but a Wesleyan error allowed for Lauren Watts to put the Hawks ahead 7-0 while Miller made her way around the bases to score the eighth and final run

  • Brooke Cooper earned her eleventh win on the season, only allowing two base hits to secure the win.

 

This double-header has brought an end to the Hawks' regular season. The CCS Championship tournament is set to begin on May 1st with news of the host site to be announced.
