No-Hitter From Belhaven Eliminates The Hawks From The CCS Tournament

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- In a "win or go home" matchup between the Huntingdon Hawks (33-6 overall, 15-1 CCS) and the Blazers of Belhaven University(36-5 overall, 15-1 CCS), the Hawks were taken down 10-0 in six innings. Belhaven pitcher Kennedy Carruth managed to hold the Huntingdon without a hit throughout the entirety of the contest, allowing the Blazers to generate a commanding lead and take the win.

How it happened

Through the first three innings of the contest, both teams were evenly matched, with Brooke Cooper limiting Belhaven to just two base hits and keeping the Blazers off of the scoreboard. Belhaven flipped a switch to kick off the fourth inning with a home run at the first at-bat.  The single shot home run sparked a seven run inning for the Blazers, putting the Hawks in a deep hole to climb out of.  Kylie Stephens became Huntingdon's first baserunner when she was hit by a pitch, but the Hawks could not build any momentum, leaving the inning without another base hit. Belhaven continued to pull ahead in the sixth inning with three runs, bringing their lead to 10-0. To close the game, the Blazers forced three outs in as many batters to advance in the tournament with a 10-0 victory.
