Thomas recognized with release of All-Conference awards

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon senior Shaonica Thomas was recognized by the USA South Athletic Conference on Thursday with the release of the women's basketball All-Conference awards.

Thomas was named first-team West Division. This is the second straight season Thomas has been recognized by the USA South. She was a second-team West Division selection last season.

Huntingdon has had at least one player recognized as All-Conference or All-Division in each of its first seven seasons in the USA South.

Through 26 games this season, Thomas is averaging 15.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game and also has 23 assists and 34 steals. She has five double-doubles this season and scored a career-high 26 points in two games.

Thomas leads the Hawks in scoring and rebounding and is second on the team in steals. She is sixth in the conference in total points (377), seventh in points per game and fourth in field-goal percentage (51.2).

Senior Sidney Ison was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

Huntingdon (13-13) will play at William Peace (22-3) on Saturday in the USA South Tournament quarterfinals. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. (Central).

Berea's Aaliyah Hampton was named Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year. William Peace's Grahm Smith was named Coach of the Year.
