Hawks Win Thriller Over Maryville on Senior Day

Montgomery, Ala.-The Huntingdon Women's Basketball team defeated Maryville, 75-71 in triple overtime.

The Hawks fell behind, 17-8, in the first quarter and were down 27-16 at halftime. Huntingdon tied the game at 41 with 7:27 in the fourth quarter and took the lead, 47-45 with 2:40 left on an AB Davis 3-point shot. Maryville tied the game at 50 with 1:06 left to force overtime.

Maryville led the first overtime until Ry Whetstone made a jump shot to tie it at 59 with less than a minute left, forcing a second overtime. Davis made a 3-point shot with 27 seconds left in the second overtime to force a third overtime. 

Kassidy Crawford gave the Hawks an early lead in the third overtime, making a 3-point shot to go up 71-68. An Alina Shoemake free throw with 21 seconds left made the lead 73-71 and 2 more free throws made it 75-71.

AB Davis led the team with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Alina Shoemake led the team with 9 assists while Brooklyn Oden had 4 assists and 8 rebounds.

Huntingdon collected 32 bench points and outrebounded Maryville 62-53. The Hawks totaled 16 points off of 17 Maryville turnovers. 

The Hawks are back in action at home on Thursday, February 10th, when they take on Covenant at 6:00 PM CST.
